A few slide shows

Posted in Alexander Stein on February 26th, 2008 by AlexStein

This first slide show is pretty amazing. I won’t go into detail about it, but basically it’s pictures taken in the same area with a 5-10 year timeframe between them.

This other slide show is from the New York Times, and is a unique view on Obama’s security. Even if you don’t support him, you need to see it.

Ed Barber, 84, takes a break from reminiscing of his past to take a sip from his coffee cup. Currently living in a nursing home in Westerville, Ohio, Barber tells of his childhood, his involvement in World War II, his children, and past marriages. After taking a sip, Barber comments on the fact that he has not had a hot cup of coffee since living in the home, “Always just warm, never hot.”

No more Polaroid film..

Posted in Allison McAdams on February 25th, 2008 by Allison McAdams

I recently found out that they are stopping the production of polaroid film. I like to shot film and just play around with different film mediums, and using polaroid cameras was one of those. I guess it was going to happen sooner or later, because the digital camera world is taking over. I’ll just have to stock up on film!

Hey guys, I heard Parker Steele, a recent graduate, speak the other day about life as a photographer after college. He suggested some cool photographers to check out and I thought I’d pass them along. My favorite is Kareem Black, he has some really cool commercial photos. http://www.kareemblack.com/

also, Stephen Webster has some really unique, kinda off-the-wall images. http://www.hideoutinc.com/hideout/PI/index.html

and, Ben Willmore has some interesting stuff to check out. http://www.digitalphotoandart.com/collections/photographer/ben_willmore/13

After the Week 6 Question, I found myself looking for commercial photographers whose work really caught my attention and inspired me. I found this website and it has portfolios of many famous photographers in the fashion/celebrity industry. For those who are interested in more of the beauty/fashion photography, check out Naomi Kaltman and Hugh Stewart’s websites through this link. They are awesome photographers.
